I don’t know if it’s just me or if every grown man out there only uses texting as a mode of communication with women these days. It’s as if they have to be retrained on how to use a phone. Of course, I don’t mind some texting, but if it’s the only way we communicate when we’re not together, that’s a problem for me. At first, I thought it was the man I was dating at the time. But when the same thing kept happening no matter who was on the other end of the phone, I started to take a step back to see what was really going on.
After speaking with my friends and other men, here are the reasons I found out as to why he always text.
1. It’s quick and easy. A text to ask how your day is going can be a sure fire way that it won’t lead into a lengthy long drawn out whining session about how your boss is a jerk. Of course, it could, but how likely will you text a whole paragraph to tell him that?
2. He can’t talk right now, but he wants you to know that you’re on his mind. How fast you respond will give him the insight to see if the feeling is mutual.
3. He’s afraid of rejection or he’s embarrassed to bring up an issue face to face. As women, we tend to forget that grown men have feelings too. He may not want to come off as being clingy or seem more into you that you are into him.
4. He’s currently in a relationship with someone else. A man can text alongside his wife and have her believe it is work related. A phone call, however, will surely tip off wifey that her man is having a little fun on the side. Be weary of texts that abruptly stop in the evening and are non-existent on the weekend.
5. He texts, because you have allowed it. If you are uncomfortable with all the text messages going back and forth, then let him know. If you don’t, how is he supposed to know how you really feel? To nudge him to pick up the phone more, let him know that you would love to hear his voice more often. Let him know that you value your conversations together and wish he would minimize the texting a bit. If he refuses, then kick him to the curb. There are way too many men out there who are not phone shy.
